  1. yes y not...

  2. Yep I Agree! I asked a similar question a while back " Why isn't Cricket an Olympic Sport?" Most of the replies I got said it was too time consuming but T20 should be there.

  3. It could be an Olympic sport but there would be challenges in holding the comp.  If the Olympics are held in a country that doesn't play cricket or only has poor quality pitches, they would have to make these.  How many teams would attend? How would teams qualify?  All in all probably not practical.

  4. It should be.

That is one of the best ways to make cricket popular allover the world.

  5. Organising 20-20 cricket as Olympic game-more than 20-20 World Cup may not be necessary--If more Teams paticipate the Tournament and Competition will become unwieldy.

If the Cricket playing Nations and Olympic Committee agree ,may be the top 4 or 6 Teams of World Cup can compete again for Olympic Gold.

  6. Yes. Am all for it.

    .

  7. I dnot think so, because if that happen then test cricket will loose its status. All the new countries then will only focus on 20 20.

  8. yes

  9. i think so

  10. absolutely!

  11. Yes, absolutely! If the ICC is looking to popularize cricket in other parts of the world, then Olympics is the perfect medium to advertise your game. Olympics is a true global event and the whole world watches it. A Twenty20 competition would definitely fit an Olympic schedule. It also forces the hosts to have venues in place for such a sport. It's an added incentive for cricket that stadiums will be built for cricket in countries that don't have any cricketing tradition.

  12. Yes cricket should but not the T20 version. Partially because, thought it gives the entertainment, it doesn't really show who the deserved winner is. For example, Zimbabwe won over Australia once, which otherwise is next to impossible. Besides there is no time for the batsman to get settled, the bowler knows hes gonna go right over the fence and stuff like that. So I prefer perhaps the 50 over or the test matches to get in.

  13. Yes, it will nice if Cricket also get included in Olympic.

  14. How is this practical? The IPL had a match a day and even then, players were exhausted.

The Oylmpics version couldn't be like the IPL because the 16 official nations would have to play an aggreate of 100 games.

If it was round-robin, it would be very boring because the only contenders are India, Aust, and Pakistan if they are on form.

  15. As much as i would love cricket to become part of the olympics.

Seeing as Test and ODI cricket will probably be too time consuming in the olympics, T20 looks like the only option.

But 'ferrari5107' brings up an excellent point. T20 cricket is not the best form of cricket in my view. And if it becomes a part of the olympics, cricket will become T20. And i for one do not want T20 cricket to become the highlight of cricket.

Money and status equals popularity in our world today. So if T20 cricket does go to the Olympics, T20 cricket will become popular and may start to influence cricket. And i do not want T20 cricket to become the highlight of the cricketing world.

  16. NO

  17. It is not easy for now because only 15 to 20 countries really know about the rules of Cricket..... There are more than 150 countries which are participating in Olympics....

  18. Yes it should be and ICC's next target is that. Their planing to promote cricket to Europe and US, just as football was promoted to US by David Beham. ICC is going to chose 7 ambaciders(Retired Players) from Cricket Playing countries and sent them to non-cricket playing countries , then their job is to promote Criket. Arajuna Ranathunga and Aravinda De Silva are already selected from Sri Lanka . I have no idea about Other Countries.
