Dems did not get their wish for Hillary to be the VP so will the Hillary supporters who only vote based on gender now gallop over to McCain?

  1. Many women aren't as stupid as you think they are. I am not voting for a woman because I am a woman. Nor am I voting for a white man because I am white. None of that matters.

Sarah Palin is a homophobic bigot who wants creationism taught in schools. Uh, no way.

And McCain is a war-mongering fool.

  2. Well, it makes it a tad harder for Obama, but it isn't a deal-breaker, here's why.

McCain did unify his base. BUT, there are more Democrats than Republicans in the country, by about 7-9% according to party affiliation polls, not registered voters. So it makes the race even again.

  3. Certainly it's true that people who voted soley on Hillary's gender will probably support the McCain ticket. However, this type of voter is rare. Most voters support a ticket based on a broad range of issues and not simply an individual's gender. Most women support Democrats because of agreement on many issues.

Regarding Palin...yes she is viewed as a true conservative and will probably reinforce the ticket's attration to conservative voters. She will certainly attract religious conservtatives. The question is: does any person from one of the smallest population states with only 2 years experience have the ability to step in if McCain were to die? I don't think so...Frankly, Biden probably has more management/administrative experience with his Senate staff than Palin.

Ned: My heart's not really into attacking McCain. I think he is a very good man. The problem is that he is a Republican and they Republicans have given us 8 years of mismanagment. There isn't enough space here to name all the problems, but I'm rejecting McCain because of the Republican record. At the same time, there's more government experience on the Democratic ticket than on the Republican. We have to be concerned about McCain's age and the likelyhood that the VP would assume the position....and if an inexperienced VP assumes the position, well I guess we  would all assume the position too...

More Republican Rule? I don't think so....not with what they have done.
