Should Dhoni be there in test team leave alone captaincy ?

Dhoni is a wicketkeeper, that gives him the advantage over Yuvraj. And Dhoni is the best Wicketkeeper-batsman India has right now. He is useful at any position in the batting order. Dhoni as a player, you cannot just disregard his ability.

Sangakkara et al, maybe better wicketkeeper-batsmen, but can they play for India? That is a pointless argument. What do you say about Karthik? He did not come good with his 'keeping nor did he impress with his batting.

Dhoni is at the right place at the right time. If he was a batsman alone he would be worrying about his selection but since he is a wicket-keeper and perhaps best among the worse, his selection is almost guaranteed. I think there is a very powerful lobby working for Dhoni and that has put him as the captain of the team. He is the most secured player in the team. More secure than even Sachin. This is Indian cricket, my friend.

Dhoni is decent as a wicket keeper, and occasionally contributes with the bat as well, but I strongly feel that his batting technique isn't good enough to earn him a place in the Indian test squad.

Dhoni should never have been a part of  the test team, had such great  wicket keeper batsmen like Gilly, Sangakkara, or Boucher been available for us. But the truth is that there is no proper replacement for Dhoni, as the wicket keeper of the test team. Others like Dinesh Kartick and Parthiv Patel, are also inconsistent in their batting like Dhoni, and moreover, they do not keep well. Thus, inspite of numerous shorcomings, Dhoni would still be there as the wicket keeper, only because a better one isn't available at present, even though he doesn't deserve to be playing for tests, owing to his poor standard of batting.
