So, the 'concerned parents' of the kids at Pobalscoil Chorca Dhuibhne, which is in the supposedly existent Kerry Gaeltacht are suing the school because it teaches the kids through Irish, the argument being that the kids of Immigrants and kids with Special needs can't cope with speaking Irish. This is only one of the latest gobshite things they've done - others include having the official Irish name replaced with a combination of the English and Irish versions.

My opinion would be that if you want to immigrate into Ireland and not learn the language, you should immigrate to the 90+% of the country that is outside the Gaeltacht. As for the special needs kids, if they have learning disabilities they won't be educated with the mainstream kids anyway - so if it really is important to the parents that they learn in English over Irish- they would be in a different stream so that could be managed.

  1. I don't think it should have it's status taken away from it, but there should be new laws made to protect Irish Schools from idiotic parents like that.
