Should Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh Consider An International Move During The Lockout? – NBA Feature
Now that FIBA, the international governing body for basketball, has officially cleared the way for NBA players to seek International employment opportunities, both Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh have expressed their desire to play
overseas if the lockout persists.
Deron Williams has already left for the Turkish side Besiktas, who are making strong advances to bring Kobe Bryant to their league as well. Moreover, Kevin Durant, Dwight Howard and Carmelo Anthony have indicated a strong inclination
towards moving to the International arena in case the lockout doesn’t end anytime soon.
This clearance by the FIBA will now depict a better picture as to who all are serious about overseas employment. For players like Bosh and Wade, the prospect of competitive basketball is much more enticing than working out at home.
However, the question arises whether they should or should not move out of Miami.
The bottom line is that if Wade and Bosh are committed to winning a championship for Miami Heat, they should simply shut out any thoughts of a foreign move and focus all their energies and concentration towards an NBA title, which
is a very big possibility next season.
Being popularly regarded as two of the big three, with LeBron James being the third, they have a huge responsibility on their hands. The fans, who are extremely disappointed as of now, need reassurance that their ‘big 3’ are gunning
even stronger for a title this year.
Such foreign interest will only cast a doubt in the minds of the fans and will not do Bosh or Wade any good. It will not be a positive message and they might lose their credibility in the eyes of the Miami supporters, especially
Dwyane Wade, who has worked really hard to become the main man of this Miami dream team.
Both players should use this time to work on their fitness and develop continued focus. Wade and Bosh have been guilty of being injury prone in the past and neither of the two has ever completed the full quota of 82 games in any
given season so far.
This in itself speaks volumes of their fitness levels and Miami would not want to risk investments of worth $200 million to go and play for someone else. Even if the two players play only a couple of games on the International
circuit and return as soon as the lockout ends, they will have suffered a certain amount of wear and tear.
That wear and tear will come into play if Miami reach the playoff stages, where the game becomes intensely contested and physically demanding. If either one of the ‘big 3’ is injured or gets physically unfit, Miami might have to
suffer another failed NBA season.
So for Bosh and Wade, it is time to stay where they are, try to rectify their mistakes from last season, and train harder than ever, so that they are in proper shape to bring home an NBA ring for the fans. They need to put the
fans before their own personal desires. Without the fans, Bosh and Wade would amount to nothing and it is high time that both players realized this truth and set their priorities straight.
