Should Earnhardt Jr find another crew chief?

I am watching Watkins Glen and getting kinda sick of Eury Jr, now he is talking about it kinda being a messed up race! WHAT?!?!?!? To me its pretty much a normal, spred out race at the Glen. I'm SICK of him making stupid calls on pit road...why wouldnt he have pit there early during the green flag and why didnt he come after the first caution, putting them together done make sense? (If youre not gonna pit first during the green then you have to come in after the first caution!!!) Granted, he won the race at Michigan because of fuel milage but he was lost alot aswell. The race Jr was having today was great look what happened now.

I'm just curious here, but if HMS did let Eury Jr go and got another crew chief for E Jr... AND he still continued to be mediocre... would Jr fans still continue blaming everything other than E Jr?

And I'm not saying he would continue being mediocre... I'm wondering this hypothetically.  (and one last thing... when I say "mediocre", I'm saying that there are a handful of elite drivers... maybe 3 or 4... that have a real chance for their fans to be excited entering a new season.  Another dozen or so that are "mediocre"... and then 30-35 that are used as filler)

It almost sounds like he was running an oval strategy.  You want to stop as soon as you can make it to the finish on road courses.

Hmm, after today yes. Either get Tony Sr back, bring Gustafson over from the 5 or since Darian Grubb's still with HMS put him with the 88, lord knows he did a damned good job with the 48 when Chad was on his NASCAR imposed vacations.

shepard fan, Jr was obviously skilled enough to get through that 9 car wreck that happened in front of him unscathed, so don't even go that route.

Always thought it was a mistake for HMS to hire Eury Jr. He's still dragging Dale Jr. down to his level. Dale Jr. would have been better off without him...should have Gustafson as crew chief. Just my opinion...sure Jr Nation will disagree.

Yes!!!    Lets just move Eury to a new position in the team...   like say,  tire cleaner...   or maybe lug nut shiner.  Perhaps he could be in charge of .....    nevermind!  FIRE HIM!!!!

I wondered that too. He did a lot better with his uncle atop the pit box instead of his cousin. I'm just waiting for the day when Eury Jr gets "promoted" at HMS so Dale Jr can get another crew chief in there. I'm a huge fan and I love them both, but I just don't think that a few lucky calls on Eury Jr's part qualifies him to be a Cup Series crew chief. I believe Dale Jr knows that, he may not have known it last year, but only having one points win this season with all the good equipment he has, something is still not right. But what can he do about it now, he's made his bed.

He won 6 races in 2004 with his uncle calling the shots so we know it's not the driver (for all the trolls that want to put their 2 cents in).

Dale smiled at me? maybe this will be what Dale needs to see to see something needs to change. I am sure the boss will point this one out... I do not want to bash on Tony but come on!

Jr. refuses to work with anyone but Tony Jr.  I think they are a good fit.  Tony was just trying to go for a win because that is all that matters to Jr. at this point.  He could come in 2nd or last and it wouldn't matter.  At least Tony is trying something.

Jr would have ended up losing on talent alone, he's just lucky Eury made a mistake so Jr. Nation could pit the blame on him, before Jr. losted the lead on his skill alone.

The "Dale Jr. is so good that he's second in points with only one win" doesn't work after today

I am beginning to think that Dale Earnhardt Jr and Jeff Gordon need new crew chiefs. That was a dumb move on Tony Eury's part but I can't believe the Steve Latarte can't get Jeff's cars even close anymore !
