Should England have a referendum to leave the United Kingdom?

There's a Scottish parliament which votes for better NHS services, better students support etc.

The Welsh assembly who vote on what's best for Wales.

Same for Northern Ireland.

Then the Scottish. Welsh and NI MP's vote at Westminster on matters affecting England.

Is this democracy?

Why don't we just leave vote to leave the UK. We wouldn't have to subsidise them any more.

Scotland, Wales and NI can apply for their grants from Europe .

We'd be much better off. We'll ride out any recession with the money we'll save.

Good idea? Or brilliant idea.?

  1. Absolutely - it would be less expensive than a referendum in Scotland, Wales and the six counties in the north east of Ireland.  Call it a one stop shop if you wish.

  2. Except for the oil/coal/resources and fish good point.  None of us are going to ride out the recession, this is the big one so giving up land is probably not good in principal and we could never get it back.  Use the justice system to argue that their Parliaments should be like local government and that we are all supposed to be equal under the law/government in future.  Yeah I know fat chance but you have to keep your enemies even closer.

  3. England will soon take back it's right to f*ck up anyone in the British Isles that they please as soon as the energy situation reaches crisis point. Those Scottish women yearn for a time when the English lords get to take them again on their wedding night because their Scottish husbands can't get it up on account of the amount of beer they drink. It is no wonder their population is so small.

  4. jesus thats such a stupid idea....you think scotland and wales like having anything to do with the UK......nobody likes having anything to do with england...and england seem to 'be' the uk.....how about leave scotland and wales and england be their own countries and abolish the whole uk thing......oh and northern ireland too as I'm assuming you're one of those types who includes it in the uk too

  5. I do not like the way that the constituencies run in the UK. We either need to split up (like the opposition Scottish party wants) and see the Welsh and Scottish countries go haywire, and their economies plummet, and Northern Ireland goes back to Eire, or we keep only votes that effect our own constituencies to ourselves.

    Simple.

  6. I will vote for that!I think it is a brilliant idea!

  7. Brilliant idea! Then lets have a referendum about withdrawing from the EU.

  8. An interesting idea, I think. There are good points (the money we would save through not sending so much to scotland or wales etc.) but also bad points (the money we would lose, through having to pay import tarriffs on stuff from walse, n. ireland etc. (personally, i like cheap lamb...)) . I don't think we should split the union just yet, though maybe it would be worth it to get rid of brown once and for all.

  9. Interesting propostition.

  10. brilliant idea as long as we keep them Scott's sticky mits off Englands North sea oil!!!

  11. Splitting the united Kingdom is just what this Labour Government wants, ever since they came into power, they have practised a divide and rule policy, it is in the interests of all federal EU lovers to break up the union, and have the member states fighting among themselves, so that when the split does come each tiny component will be more easily mopped up by the euro superstate, that is why Prescott wanted to turn Yorkshire into an autonomous self governing entity, and believe me anything Prescott thought a great notion is obviously bad for the country. I vote that we have more integration, and take the best ideas of all the members of the United Kingdom, and ensure that all the people have them, that means free prescriptions for all (Wales) better treatment of the elderly and a return to free uni tuition (Scotland)I cant think of anything that benefits the English, which proves that Gordon Brown is in favour of and probably actively supports a total split, therefore it must be in eveyones best interests to cling together,

  12. Yeah definitely. You think scotland WANTS england plundering it`s natural resources?

  13. No, that would be ridiculous and disastrous.

  14. it will be the greatest day of my life WHEN this happens.

    england forever!

  15. You forgot to mention the oil you take from Scotland.

sassenachs are being out breed by the muslims

  16. That would be an interesting idea, you would get a Kingdom of England and Kingdom Of Scotland again. However, economically, how would they untangle it all?
