In my opinion, no. At leastnot for now, yes he is getting old, and he is way past his prime, but look at the heavyweight division now... Can you see him winning anothere world title? Yes, the division s in a state of emergancy, and Evander could capatilise on this, and win a world title.

  1. Yes, he is past his prime.

  2. if you like Evander, then yes,he needs to retire.i would not want him to get hurt out there.

  3. I think he should retire, but it's not my place or anyone else's to say when Holyfield should call it quits. As long as he feels the division is ripe for the taking, he will continue to quest to recapture the title of champion. Though, I would have to wonder how would he feel about his chances, if Wladimir Klitschko ends up collecting all the titles?

  4. No if Evander Holyfield wants to keep boxing, its up to him.  No he will not win another title but at least he still can beat most of the heavyweights out there.

  5. 5 or more years ago

  6. If you would have asked this 10 years ago I would have still said YES!!!   The division is pathetic.   Holyfield has absolutely nothing to prove.  What good is having all his fame, money and titles if he will be too brain dead to enjoy any of them?

  7. Should he retire for his health?  yes.  Should anyone else tell him to stop doing what he loves and wants to keep on doing?  No.

  8. evander should have retired after the lennox lewis rematch, he has nothing left to prove and long ago established himself as an all time great.

  9. yes, he definately needs to retire, for the good of both the sport and for himself.  he's getting very old for a fighter, and his head wont take much more punishment.  he just doesnt have the tools to beat anyone anymore.  he's lost his power, speed, most importantly his chin.  anyone in the division can easily out box him to a decision.  he's getting fights he's done nothing to deserve just because of who he is.  guys like Chris Arreola and David Haye are still in the backburner because holyfield wont go away.  but he's devout in his belief that he can unify the heavyweight belts again, and wont retire until he does.

  10. Holyfield should of retired years ago. You can tell this by looking at his past 10 or so fights and by listening to the way he talks.

  11. i think the heavyweight divison is weak @ this time so evander can give it a couple more shots depends on how bad he wants it though

    thanks

  12. Yes, I think Evander should retire because he is simply no longer the great fighter that he once was.  He just lost a title challenge to Sultan Ibragimov and I would not favor him over any of the other titlists, especially Wladimir Klitchsko (the best heavyweight in the world today).  In his prime I believe that he would have beaten all of them, but he no longer has the reflexes at age 44 than he did when he was in his 20's and early 30's.  He is already recognized as the greatest cruiserweight of all time, was a dominant heavyweight champion in his prime who faced all the top contenders and beat them (Bowe and Moorer are the only ones who beat him in his prime, he avenged both, but Bowe won their third fight).  And he is a first ballot hall of famer and he proved everyone wrong many times throughout his career including when he first went up to heavyweight because everyone said he was too small and somebody like Tyson would destroy him (Look at what happened there), and he is the only heavyweight to hold a world title 5 time.  Clearly he has nothing left to prove and he should let us remember his glory days.

  13. He should have retired 5 years ago. No 10 years ago.
