Question:

Should Field Hockey add boards and glass?

Hi

I just watched Field Hockey for the first time and was thinking of similarities and differences between it and our beloved Ice Hockey. To this casual observer it appears to have more in common with Soccer then Ice Hockey. I therefore ask of you to change it to be more like the sport we all love and adore.

What would you change?

Thank You

  1. Yes-boards and glass and make the field smaller. Add pads and allow checking! They also need to change on the fly. So basically, it would be like Ice Hockey without the skates and ice, played on short groomed grass or synthetic turf!

  2. Yeah adding boards would be great and then you could have the net just like hockey nets where the goalie sits there and has a big stick and helmet. I was going to play field hockey at my high school and I finally decided not to but if they made all those changes I would definitely play.

  3. Not a thing.  You want to make a sport that can be played on any open field into a brutal wall slamming expensive activity.  How about giving ice hockey players baseball bats?  That ought to improve the game.

  4. Since they wet the field to make the ball easier to play, maybe they should put a freezer unit under the field and set it to below 32 degrees F (or 0 degrees C). Then we can have a frozen field. Add some skates, a few fights, replace the ball with a puck, and POOF! you have the real hockey.

  5. Indoor field hockey is probably more like ice hockey because there are boards and glass. Its a fun fast paced game with gym floors. I wouldn't change much about the games except when i get mad i would really love to be allowed to check the other girl hahaha. That'd make it more intense. I hope you liked watching field hockey, it really is a fun sport.
