Don’t get me wrong I thought the 2007 RWC was very well organized but as soon as France was knocked out the Public transport workers all went on strike causing mayhem and disruption. Then as soon as the world cup finished they went back to work. What would have happened if France went out at the pool stages?

Or if it was the Olympics, failed to win any medals?

  1. Maybe the strikers were making a statement..........doubt it had feck all to with the way the their rugby team did or did not progress!!

Be interesting to see how the public transport in London will be in 2012..........if it is anything to go by today's standards, visitors will think they are on a permanent strike!

  2. Quote: Your question is all "Ifs buts and maybes"

Her question has 2 if's, no buts and no maybes, READ IT AGAIN. It's a very good question, the French are bad losers and MAYBE they shouldn't be allowed to have the responsibility of another major event.

oh, and if it isn't worth answering why did you?

  3. You live in that very fragile glass house called England and you ask this question?

  4. Thats France for you....don't count your chickens,......we haven't had the London Olympics yet....

  5. The strike had nothing to do with the rugby.

Striking is the French national sport. The season usually starts in September and goes through to around June.

They tend not to strike in July and August as most of them are on holiday.

  6. Your question is all "Ifs buts and maybes"...and as such isn't really worth answering. France put on a great show.

    End of story.

    _______________

    edit...

Geminla..England didn't win the right to host the world cup.

Maybe you are the bad losers?

  7. I would almost be certain the strike had been on the cards for awhile actually it was rather clever to have the strike during the world cup and open their (the strikers) plight to the world (not that I really cared), I also think it would have gone ahead regardless of whether france got to the finals or not.

I think the nation should not be held accountable for the public transport system and its failures these things happen.

yes they should still be allowed to hold major sporting events.

  8. In 1924 France lost the gold medal game in the Olympics, and responded to the loss by going soccer hooligan in Paris (the host of the 24 games). Rugby hasn't been an Olympic game since. So this behavior is not without precedent.

  9. France hosts the three week long Tour de France every year. The largest competitive cycling event in the world and also the sporting event that has the most live spectators of any sporting event and is a huge rolling logistical operation.

Apart from infrequent protests by farmers, the race runs smoothly every year.

  10. Hmm dats just too bad lol ^^

    Anything could happen

  11. When England hosted the football World cup 1966

they lost the cup before it began and it took a dog to find it . As far as the Olympics go it would be over befor they knew if they won medals or  not

As captain Mainwaring would say "stupid boy"

Let them without sin throw  the first stone

  12. Strikes happen all the time in Paris nothing to do with the rugby at all.
