Should Gary Glitter be given a new chance to rebuild his life in england?

Seeing a question here regarding housing for gary, i thought I would pose this question. Gary has had legaal trouble, and in fact went to jail. But he has served his time, and is legally a free man. Most people seem to wish his punishment to continue, which i can not understand.

Should'nt we give him the chance to make a fresh start and rebuild his musical career? I for one still love his records, and I heard he is a very warm person, with a great sense of humour. I have always liked him and still do - what do you think?

  1. He didn't need prison-- he needed prison and psycological counselling.

If he didn't get help, and even if he did, he's very likely to hurt other little kids. Should they have let anyone like that out again? Aside from castration, very few people fail to abuse and molest children again.

  2. You can't understand why people want a convicted paedophile to be punished for the rest of his life?

Make a fresh start? He's a repeat offender. That was not his first child abuse conviction.

And your last paragraph is surely taking the pi$$. Would you be happy to leave him with any female members of your family that are under 16?

I think you are being deliberaltely provocative to get a rise out of people, so well done you.

  3. Since he is an English citizen, I guess you are stuck with him coming back.

Sorry, we have enough perves in the states.

I think his music career is over.I for one am not interested in making him a star again.

  4. lmfao...I'm sorry but who the h**l is gary glitter?

  5. Yeh i think ur right

They should let him reb uild his life.. everyone deserves second chances?

Lets just hope his second chance aint near a playground lmao

  6. Yes of course he should be given a chance to rebuild his life ... but he won't. He'll be hounded by the tabloid press and ignorant bigots. Their ultimate aim will be to cause his death one way or another, and they won't be happy until they've engineered it. How can this sort of behaviour be acceptable in a civilised society?

Of course paedophilia is bad, but so are bigotry and mob rule. If Mr Glitter can't control his urges, then the answer is to confine him in Broadmoor and give him suitable therapy. But he has to be given a chance to reform.

  7. welldone for being free thinking, however if you want to leave him babysitting for you then think about whether you really want him roaming your neighbourhood.

Remember this is a man who almost certainly abused his position as a role model for young people

  8. I think his songs are **** and he's a prosecuted,proved paedophile...case closed!

Why the h**l should he live his life when he's took the innocence of children away, would you want him living next door to your child, you f**king moron!!!

I can't believe that you lot think because he's going to sign the s*x offenders register that that's going to make a blind bit of difference to him. He's done nothing but mess about the authority's in Thailand and Hong Kong and act smugly throughout his trial and subsequent release, once a paedophile always a paedophile.

  9. he may have served his time but returning to this country is sheer madness.he will not have learnt his lesson his type dont.so watch this space he will hit the same headlines.

  10. I say let him swim to England.

If he makes it, we can talk.

  11. He shouldn't be given a chance to rebuild his life anywhere, he should be done away with. This pervert has s*x with children, end of story.

  12. The man is a sexual deviant.

There is no proof that a paedophile can be cured.therefore he will always be a danger to children.

He has already been imprisoned twice, from that you can assume that although he has been caught twice,he has probably got away with a lot more offences.

Why should he be given another chance?

He knew what he was doing was wrong and illegal, otherwise he would not have hidden his actions from the public.

The man should not be given Police protection, let him find out for himself wether the public have "forgiven" him

  13. Firstly do you have children???? If you have would you leave them alone with him??? If the answer is yes then you are right if the answer is no then I say no more. I for one would not leave my child with him and wouldn't want him living anywhere near me. I love his music  to and its a shame he chose the path he did. What he did was wrong wrong wrong, will the children involved get another chance???? I think not they will have to live with it for the rest of there lives and so should he!!!!

  14. I'm not up to date on my law but Gary Glitter should get the same punishment as others who have commited similar acts, so if thats - he's served his time let him be or continue to punish then that's what it should be.

As long as his celebrity doesn't give him an advantage or disadvantage...

  15. I agree

Well done for forming your own opinion.

Most people here posting on this issue are having their thinking done for them by the Sun and other tabloids.

  16. Short and simple NO, i've got kids and the thought of what he did makes me mad!

  17. Unfortunately the old saying is very true, "a leopard never changes it's spots".  He started off with child pornography for which he was punished, but that didn't stop him.  He then needed a bigger fix, like with any addiction, so he then abused two young girls.

Why should we give him the chance to come back to England to then do the same here, which undoubtedly he will as he has always professed he was innocent?  People like him do not deserve a second/third/fourth chance.  They will always re-offend because they cannot help themselves.  Just because he is famous doesn't mean he should be forgiven.

We do not want him here, end of.

  18. He has served time here and that matter is closed, he served time abroad and that is semi-closed - people convicted of sexual offences abroad must still sign the s*x offenders register for a prescribed time and possibly be subject to travel restrictions.

Other than that he has to live somewhere, and hounding him is only likely to make him flee and be more difficult to keep an eye on.

But I always thought his music was terrible, even though he was a good showman in his day.
