GSP is ranked #2 in MMA, yet he has never moved up in weight classes and won, like BJ Penn has. Should GSP move up in weight and fight Anderson Silva? If he did, do you think he could win against Silva?

  1. that will be one of the biggest superfights ever, and is probably the most anticipated one right now, at least by the real hardcore fans like me......

and if they fight, i honestly can see it going either way...... they both have real good stand-up, Silva has some of the best technique+combos in the game right now, Pierre also has good technique, with a little more power id say, if they hit the ground, Silvas submissions are some of the best, and has some good g+p, GSP also has some of the best submissions, but he could control someone on the ground a lot better and has wayy better ground and pound,  on top of all that GSP is one of the best wrestlers in the game, just ask Hughes, if they lock up, Anderson wont be having chances to go for a muay thai clinch with a monster like st.Pierre h**l probably already be in the air trying to lift one of his knees up...... if GSP could move up in weight with no problem, which i think he will, it would be one h**l of a fight... id say advantage GSP

  2. I would love to see that. I would also love to see him move  fight Penn at a lightweight.  Yes he should

  3. Yes he should, unless he waits for Penn to move to GSP's weight. There is no more challenge for GSP in his division. Silva is sooo dominant right now (ask Rich Franklin), GSP can beat him if he can add more power to his strikes.

  4. Yes, I think GSP should move up to fight Silva.

Silva seems like a real fighter, whereas GSP is more of a reallllly gifted athlete.

I honestly think GSP would maul Silva for the first 3 rounds....it'd be a boring grappling match, almost close.  Then, in the final 2 rounds, Silva would either out strike GSP and decision it on top with ground n pound...or submit GSP after a few minutes in the guard.  It'd be like a longer version of Dan Henderson vs Anderson Silva.

I like both fighters, and I wouldn't care who won.

But, GSP would be moving up (the Spider is exactly that - too skinny to cut down)...ten pounds is a huge strength and speed difference.

Silva's long legs would keep GSP at bay.  Coupled with excellent striking and smooth ground work...GSP would have to work harder than he did with the smaller Penn.  Not to mention, GSP has been rocked before...if Serra could luckily do it, Silva could do it a couple more times.

  5. GSP is a great striker as well as good on the ground.  If he put on muscle but was able to keep speed he'd kill Silva.  Should he: no.

  6. It would be the biggest fight in a long long time. Since GSP has been hurt before from strikes, I would give it to Silva. They guy has some sick stand up skills.

  7. ill disagree with everyone and say no. He is doing very well in his weight class and i think he should spend a little more time in there before even considering moving up. His conditioning is in top shape but Anderson silvas strikes might be too much for GSPs Chin.

Dont get me wrong, im a full-hearted GSP fan, but the way he lost to Serra makes it seem like he needs a little more experience before jumpin the gun.
