  1. First he would have to be in a recognized unified MMA rules weight class to be a current possessor of a recognized title. The welterweight weight class in the UFC® is now irrelevant. They will have to either move it to 165lbs. or 175lbs, once the NSAC acts on the updated MMA rules. SEE below linked source.

  2. I am sick of every one thinking they have to go to another weight class. I want to see a champ totally dominate his weight class. Thankfully Silva is only doing one fight at 205. Bj Penn Has fought at 185 and fought Machida at his natural weight class. He is the only fighter to be able to do such so he gets to but GSP needs to be one of the guys history looks back as just the best in his class for a long time. if he bounces around he will lose because he can't make weight or the cuts take to much out of him or the mind set will be gone. let him rule one division before moves or he will be remembered as a guy like Sean Sherk and not like Chuck Liddell

  3. I agree and disagree with answerer #1:

First, i think that its true, Gsp should stay there and prove that he CAN dominate that weight class, specially because the first time he got the title he lost it on his first championship fight agaisnt Matt Serra. Now that hes back in the game, I would like to see him dominate, although it is natural for us to think that after Fitch and possibly Huerta (which has said he wouldnt fight GSP for friendship reasons) amongst just a few other there is really no competition for Gsp at Welterweight. After a while he will have to move up or down, to show that he can take on greater fighters and other champions. I think that Georges has that potential and he should totally go for it, and thats where i disagree with answerer #1, Because i believe that every champion should take on other champions, once u have ruled one weight class, and u move up or down and still dominate, THEN u have proved urself to be a great fighter and champion.
