He is among the top scorers in ipl and i think he should still be playing for us.The top order looks pretty unstable to me without Gilly.

  1. Sure I agree...get rid of Ricky "cheap" Ponting and play Gilly instead.

  2. No. He left at the right time before going down the hill. He is not very sharp behind the wickets anymore and can't be consistant with the bat either. It's good to see him still enjoying cricket without the pressure of international cricket. He couldn't last till the next world cup so the Aussies had to have a fresh keeper to replace him. Although Haddin is the first choice right now but Luke Ronchi seemes pretty exciting especially for the limited over games. With his current form, Shaun Marsh can easily slip in at the top with Hayden. Katich is also in good nick and he can open, too, so no worries at the top of the order at all.

  3. Yes he should play......I think he can easily give 2 more years to cricket....

  4. yes

  5. Offcourse he must play there is no question about that.

  6. no, he went at he right time, he was ready to go, and importantly haddin was ready to replace him, he was starting to slide as a test match keeping and did the right thing by retiring on top, beside people we have to gae haddin a chance to prove himself, it no good telling him gilchrist should come back and putting uneeded pressure on him, the guy is replacing a legend, theres already enough presure on him! i think haddin will do fine, just give him the chance without stacking more pressure on him

  7. Gilly actually has a lot of cricket left in him. If he had continued

to play or if he comes back from retirement, if I were to select

the team, I would be taking him with no questions asked. But

his retirement is for personal family reasons, where only he

and his family can decide about it. There is hardly anything

the fans and his supporters can do.

If you are referring to Aus team without Gilly, I think they will do

fine with or without Gilly - even though I would have preferred

him play for few more years. But if it is Deccan Chargers, he

is the most contributor along with Rohit Sharma. Without

him this team is almost in shambles as others have not fired.

Styris, Afridi have failed to deliver. Without Gilly this team is

no where near competition along with the other team Royal

    challengers.

  8. definitely!am i pleased or wat?now chances for india to become the top side.but still will miss him hammering amazingly, fast players.favourite aussie player.

  9. I think Afridi should bat up the order. he can make use of the first 6 overs. he and gilly opening can do wonders

  10. Though Gilchrist is still playing well, he had taken a decision to quit when his performance is good, which was his own decision.

It is better than getting dropped when performance deteriorates.

  11. I agree with Vakayil. He was ready to go, & playing in IPL, which only takes a small part of the year, gives him more time with his family. And he retired at the top, not a has been.

  12. I believe Gilly should play. Remember until today when a bit of the rest of the order fired, Rohit Sharma and Gilly alone made atleast 45% of the DC scores.
