Question:

Should Gov't limit welfare kids?

There are arguments for both sides. Lets hear them!

Should the government say you don't get welfare if you continue to have kids? And how many should they be allowed to have? And what will that do to abortion rates?

  1. Since I am a fan of less government intrusion in american's lives, I would say that the government is not responsible for taking care of kids.  However, reality is that some women and men have children to get welfare and avoid working and others get welfare and think they don't have to work.  Because there are people like this, we (the taxpayers) have to provide welfare because the parents won't support their kids.  there are exceptions such as illness or temporary loss of a job, etc.  but none of these should be permanent except in case of severe illness.  the answer to most welfare problems is simple.  Don't make babies unless you can support them.  You don't need the government to tell you that, it's common sense.

  2. because i worked every day of my life

    never had any help

they should do away with welfare

  3. Some states already do. In NJ, you can only collect for two years and must be on job training, and you get no further benefits for having more kids.

  4. So you advocate forced abortion or letting children starve.

  5. It is true that in most states the cash assistance stops after 2 kids. However, the food stamps don't. If you have 10 kids, you get more food stamps for each kid. It's not fair to punish the kids for the mother's supidity. The problem is the parent's you know are not using the food stamps for the kids. They are selling them (and that is possible even with it being an EBT card..it's done every day).  The issue is: these kids will still starve or will end up in foster care which then costs up more money. I think the govt. should do something. Maybe we should pay these women to be sterilized.. even if you pay them $500 that would still be cheaper than paying for 18 years of food, medical care, schooling, etc. The concern is this. These welfare moms..how many of their daughers at 13 or 14, get pregnant and the cycle starts again.. it will never stop.. someone needs to do something. I understand that things happen. I got pregnant without being married and that happens. My babies father split. Some women have a great life and then  the husband dies or leaves or they lose jobs and have no choice but to do welfare but they have enough sense to know that 'we can't afford anymore kids so stop".. some have no sense to do that. I don't know what the cure is.

  6. Yes, if I'm having to pay for the breeding privileges of the government slaves, I should have a say so as to how many these can breed.

  7. it is a persons choice on how many kids you have.is it fair to say that if you have a disability and cannot work then you cannot recieve government payments

  8. That's so ridiculous.  That would be like me saying you are making my kids go without a college education, b/c I haven't put money away for it.

There's a difference between being responsbile for starving kids and not giving their irresponsible parents money to have more.  If that's the case, we all support starving kids and making adults homeless.  Do you fork over $20 to the whino begging on the street every time you see him?  If not, you must want him to be homeless.

  9. If the government were to limit "welfare kids" it would only hurt one person and that would be the baby. I do like the term "welfare kids".

  10. They should have to be spayed or neutered.  I know a woman that has 4 children...all different fathers and she's been on welfare ever since the first one was born.  She seemed to have spaced them out just right.  OMG...when I think about it, that's been 30 years for sure.  I've worked my butt off and don't seem to have as much as she has plus all that free health care.  She even has a newer van than I do.  Maybe after two "mistakes" they should have to be fixed.

    Appalling....isn't it?

  11. If they ugly, put them to sleep.

  12. The government isn't in the position to dictate or punish children. It is responsible for providing social programs such as education, and work force programs Education is the key factor; to curtail the repeat of generations of welfare recipients. People behave out of their limitation, and surrounding environments. Exposure provides able avenues to change their methods of thinking or rationalization.

  13. A welfare check should have birth control attached to it. No birth control, no check. And every man who fathers a welfare child should be put on a chain gang to do work for the taxpayers. DNA testing mandatory.

  14. This is a completely emotional issue.  The way we talk about welfare is just to get people upset and to win votes for one party or another, not how to fix the problem or what's a good way to deal with the problem.

It's easy to villanize welfare moms for having kids.  But when you get down to brass tacks, what are you going to do about it?  Simply pass a law that a woman on welfare can't get pregnant?  Forced sterilization (actually we tried that!)  Force her to get an abortion?  Yeah, Republicans will LOVE that. Maybe have CPS swoop down like a vulture and carry the kid away out of the delivery room and give it to foster parents.

I think there are a lot of people who shouldn't have kids!  But as a society we are not ready to tell people who can have kids and who can't. Just as we are not ready to let people bleed to death on the steps of the ER, even illegal immigrants.  If they make it to the ER we treat them, you can whine and fulminate about it but that's just how it is.

Difficult problems often require difficult solutions.  The biggest problem we have in this country is that we don't want to listen to complicated solutions. If a candidate or pundit can't explain it in 15 words, we're not interested.  But the solution to this problem is complicated, it requires more than just intolerance and anger.

  15. One cannot fault children, and we cannot let them starve. Unfortunately, the problem is only going to get much worse as our education system falters. This generation of high school students is expected to have drop out rates of 56 % nationwide. Of course modern drug culture and the breakdown of traditional family units are root causes. Since we cannot change them, we cannot change the other. Abortion rates might get higher if welfare payments were limited, but not as much as one would expect. Today's young have come to expect their parents to raise the babies while they party on. I think people too lazy to practice safe s*x, probably are too lazy to get an abortion.

  16. One and you are done. I am sick and tired of feeding other people's children while keeping my dreams on hold.

To the response below mine, I do not insist on forced abortions, no body does.

Everyone wants to make sure that the welfare parasites are not allowed to hold thier own childrent hostage and exort  money from unwilling tax-payers with aid of spineless liberal politicians.
