Question:

Should Government Ban Bottled Water?

Wouldn't that be a drastic measure inappropriate in a free country with a free market ?

Instead of banning bottled water, shouldn't we put a deposit of let's say 25 cents or 50 cents per bottle to make sure they will be returned ?

I generally don't drink bottled water, but I don't want the government to reduce my economic freedoms and force me to drink faucet water. Sometimes I want or need bottled water and I find it a security that I can buy bottled water in case faucet water has a problem.

I find it's dangerous to ban bottled water and blame the plastic bottle. And I think it's hypocritical also, given that all the soft drinks and even milks are sold in plastic bottle in far greater quantity.

Why single out water ?

  1. Regulate it yes 95% pure or it gets pulled.

  2. For some reason, there has been a campaign to claim tap water is safe.  Funny that they found prescription drugs and other nasty things in tap water in the last year or so.  The enviros hate the left over bottles.  While your deposit idea sounds good, I doubt anyone will do it.  Enviros are nuts.

  3. If they force us to drink tap they can turn us into zombies ;)

  4. No.

    It’s all about CONTROL.

If “they” can get and keep everyone drinking tap water “they” can continue to have you ingest the chemicals necessary for “them” to control you with.

    Sounds paranoiac, huh? lol

  5. it is the big plastic bottle corporations who want to destroy our world and reduce us to ash with global warming.

seriously, i am with you.  this whole plastic bottle taboo is lunacy run amok.  free market capitalism is the answer to everything, sooner or later.

  6. It's a crazy idea,,,,,,you'll find that almost everyone who supports it plans to vote for Obama.
