Should Hawthorn keep picking Crawford just so he can reach a personal milestone of 300 games?

I think it has been selfish of Crawford & not a good example set by the club to the player more deserving of his place in the team.

  1. Yes they should, clubs preach loyalty to players and supporters, at least the hawks are showing some back, be it to supporters or players,  Crawford deserves to be helped 'across the line', one thing i find amusing is that Crawf used to always bag Sammy on the footy show how a similar thing happened to him,  but Sam used to sit on the ine for about his last 1 games in a dressing gown, in the days of 19th and 20th men, when they only came on for an injured player or the last 10 minutes in some cases.

But with all that said, Shane Crawford has been a great player, i think they have set a good example myself, that they are willing to help him out, also if his form wasn't up to scratch, they wouldn't play him.

  2. No I think it is great they are letting him get too his 300th he has been a veteran of the club, browlow medalist and all Australian let him reach his milestone because he has put a lot into the club!

  3. Which player not playing deserves their spot more than Crawf?

  4. No. I've actually been wondering what had been going on with Crawford at Hawthorn. They play him every couple of weeks for short game time. Now I see they have been doing this to push him to the 300 mark.

When he comes back in a young bloke is given the boot. Whoever it is from week to week must get peed off - not good for team harmony. Crawford should have pulled the pin last year instead of selfishly going for the big 300. He is obviously not fit enough to get through the season. I can't imagine him being much use in  a high pressure finals match.

  5. You don't know much about football do you, You obviously don't watch any Hawthorn matches either. Crawford is a champion player and still has another full season in him. Try watching a game in slow motion if you cant keep up. duhh

  6. yes

    he is a spunk

  7. It is a bit unfair to let one player reach 300 games whilst the whole team would like to reach there goal too, however 300 games is a great achievement and once he has reached it I'm sure the other players will get a good game too.

  8. of course, they want him to get a life membership at hawthorn and then sack him at the end of the season.

  9. Correction - he is NOT "just being picked".I'm a mad keen hawks supporter and YES - shane is easily in our best 22 - and fully fit would be in our top 10. He carried that club on his shoulders for almost 10 years and his experience and skill under pressure make him invaluable, now more than ever.  Just as Buckley and Harvey both deserved to get a premiership medallion (Harvey prob won't) - I would love to see Crawf and Brad Johnson (Bulldogs) get one, if only for sentimental reasons. Good Luck Crawf... Hope there's 2 more years left in ya!!!!!!!

  10. Are you nuts.

They wouldnt pick him if he wasn't in their best 22.

Look at Richie Vandenberg, he wouldve gone on... IF HE WAS GOOD ENOUGH.

Yeah, I'm a Hawks supporter. Crawfy is a legend of the game, and one of the greatest ever players at our football club.

And, he is more deserving than anybody else. He works his **** off, and has done for the last 15 years. If thats not dedication to a cause, then I don't know what is.

All he needs now, is a premiership.
