The pantsuit was just a characature of Hillary just as McCain's terribly old age or Obama's huge ears.  It is just not couth to mock her gender which would be the only other distinguishing physical characteristic, so they mocked the pantsuit.

It has never really been funny until you posed that question.

Women and a few men spent weeks on Y/A criticizing Hillary for her pantsuits.  Women have blown it!!! While they were being pretty and jealous of Hillary, they let there only viable Democratic candidate leave the building.  I am ashamed of being female, we truly need to evolve some fifty more years.  That is how long it will be before we will have a qualified woman as good as Hillary again.
