Should I Be Scared Of Fleas?

Question

i was in my bedroom and i saw a flea! obviously of my dog! i started screaming! and i was reading people comments on if there harmful or not! should i be scared of them? i dont know esically what they do! but i couldnt sleep for the all night! i was just thinking something bad could happen! :(

Other than the fact that it's pretty gross, no.  There are great meds out there for that.

Besides, fleas can't last more than an hour on most people, we bathe too often for them to survive.

no just kill it b4 it lays eggs in yur carpet..

didja know that ppl could hav flea eggs in ther carpet without even knowing and wen the eggs hach ppl wonder how the flea got in the house..

but no fleas cant hurt u they just suk on yur blood.. like a mosquito except ther small black and REELY annoying haha hope i helped ;)

You should be worried. Once a flea makes at home in your hair, it might lay eggs in your hair, and babies hatch, multiplying the population. If your lucky, it may be a male, and it will just make you itchy.

You don't want fleas in your home.  Ask your vet for a product recommendation to put on your dog.  You can sprinkle Sevin dust on your carpeting and vacuum it up a couple of times a week. Wash all blankets, sheets, slipcovers, and have pillows dry cleaned.  You will want to keep at this for two or three months, in order to kill all the larvae.

When I was 15, I was sitting on the patio and a june bug landed on my arm.  I went hysterical.  I look back at that, and I laugh.  At 15, I was very hormonal.

I don't think you should be. They aren't really that dangerous (they can bite but it doesn't hurt, maybe just itches a little ) and it isn't likely that you'll get a disease from them. If you eat one it is possible to get a tapeworm and very rarely do fleas carry the plague, but the likelihood of getting either one of these ailments is extremely slim.
