Question:

Should I Go To Church Again...?

I was a Christian but became apathetic about it. I am somewhat considering going to church this Sunday in my hometown. But I go to university about 45 minutes away, so it'd be a bit of a drive.

I could go to churches near my university, but the one I want to go to is the only one I want to go to. It's an Orthodox church so that's why.

Should I just forget about this?

  1. Depends on your intentions. If you wish to remain a sheep and continue saying yes sir to a priest who is ignorant, worldly, and sometimes pedophile then go ahead, make my day. But if you are trying to investigate the truth about God and His Dispensations then you need to direct your efforts towards that exalted goal.

  2. yes..it's gonna be worth all your effort..

you see, the famous line, no pain, no gain..

you just have to trust in God that all your hardworks will soon be paid off and the reward would just be greater than what you expected.

    :D

    keep going to church.

it's gonna keep you spiritually healthy.

  3. That's a choice only you can answer, are you looking for validation of the choice you've already made?  If so just accept responsibility for your choice either way and follow it through, what other people think doesn't matter an iota.

If you feel the need to go, go.  If you don't feel its worth it, don't go.

    Peace be upon you.

  4. NO! If you do you'll be caught in the symbolically eating zombie flash trap!

  5. I would forget about it, but that's just me.  Look for a closer Orthodox church. Many cities have more than one.  You might even want to try an Eastern Catholic church, they are quite like the Orthodox.  GOod luck.

Now this THUMB'S DOWN bugs me.  I stated I wouldn't go, but then I encouraged the asker to try a different church.  What is wrong with that?  What is wrong with some people?

  6. If you have the money to spare go ahead.  As for me, if I'm going to make a donation, it'll be something worth my money.

  7. Only if you want to.  That's your decision.

  8. Go for it.  I have to drive 45 minutes (one way) Mon-Thur to go to my university.  Its all about cost and benefit.  The benefits of going to church to further your spirituality are much greater than the cost.

  9. That's nothing, I had to catch a bus out of Camp Pendleton marine corps base In San Diego California to go to church in Oceanside California, when I was in your shoes, it was well worth it, soon I found a Christian friend who made the trip with me, we became good friends. Oh, and for the past 16 years I have been driving to church 20 miles away with a carload, that's 40 miles round trip.

  10. It's a shame that people are so fussy about how they praise the lord. It must be in a certain building, certain time, certain day, specific people... Just pray on your own and take an hour to read or re-read a part of the bible.

  11. If you are considering going to church, then that is God calling you to something of great importance. The fact that you became apathetic is not uncommon. You are still a Christian, by the way, or you wouldn't be feeling this. Pray for wisdom through Jesus Christ to God as to where He wants you to go. I am very certain you are being chosen in the end times, because the same thing has happened to me. Read 1 Corinthians chapter twelve and see if any of the spiritual gifts listed apply to you. You are going to be fine, and go in strength. Do not worry about your apathy stage. It will be forgiven in your quest for the truth. Love, Ivy

  12. Out of curiosity - are you Orthodox (background-wise)?  The Orthodox Church is definitely something that I would encourage you to check out - whether it be the church of your childhood, or a church you are just interested in.

Yeah, you could go to a church near your university - but it's definitely worth the drive to go to the Orthodox Church - especially if you're drawn to it.

  13. If you feel it is spiritually worth it, go ahead.

  14. I hate my church personally, but I still go it to connect with god.Hes a good role model i guess :o
