Question:

Should I Return to England?

I moved to Florida 8 months ago and am having second thoughts. I have 2 young children who are not yet school age, i am struggling to find things to do with them other than theme parks. I am also finding it difficult to meet people. I miss my friends and family in England more that I expected to and the fact that my brother has just become a Daddy has made me even more home sick. I am so confused as to what to do for the best, my children come first. England is going to the dogs from what I have been told so not sure that moving back would be the best for my family. Any advice would be helpful. Would love to hear from anyone in the same situation.

  1. Well, I was in the same situation not so long ago. I left Florida and went to London and got so homesick after about 4 months.  Everyone told me to just go home to visit and return, but I didn't listen, I thought I'd had enough. Well, now it's 2 years later, and I'm in the process of going back to London, for a long-term job position.  Maybe I'm crazy, but So. Florida has been going to the dogs for years and the dogs and the fleas can have it.  Greener grass?  I don't know, maybe it's time for you to go home for a short visit, rethink why you left and what the opportunities are for you on both sides.  There's no easy answer, especially when you also have kids with you.  (Forget the theme parks, that's too much money to keep spending) get involved in some mommy & me programs, check the preschools and public library to start.  Hang it there, you invested a lot to get here, don't let the homesickness ruin it for you. Keep your sense of adventure alive!  are you meeting people?
