I work in a large corporate and recently an internal promotion opportunity has arisen. In fact, I have been seconded to the role and have mixed feelings, on one side I eagered to get the promotion, the money, the step up, but ont the other sie I am apprehensive, not too sure if its the right one for me. In my past job, i turned down a promotion and regretted afterwards.

Should I or should I not???

  1. unless you are sure you will hate it, i would go for it. It sounds like you may just have some jitters and a little fear of leaving the comfort zone. If you are good and they asked you to take it, you obviously have the skills. People tend to like what they are good at. The nervousness will pass. also, passing it up could make it look like you are not motivated to advance.

    Good luck.

  2. Not enough info provided to suggest a firm yes or no for you.  But consider this:  Define for yourself where you would like to grow into.  Where would you like to see yourself working someday?  If the current opportunity will move you toward your personal goal, strongly consider taking it; if it doesn't, then it is a detour from your goal and probably shouldn't be taken.
