Question:

Should I accept this teaching job?

Hi! I quit teaching three years ago , and last year I went back to teaching and was a part-time teacher in a government school.

I quit again because I was tired and unhappy with the school.

Today, I went for interview with another school and the principal was not too positive about my application as a part-time teacher. He treated me like my resume was a complete failure and asked blunt questions why I quit the previous schools and about why I wanted part-time teaching. I know he has to do that but the way he phrased his questions were too instrusive and blunt. He even said "If your performance is not up to par, you will be axed immediately."

I feel depressed and I am only rebuilding my life after some setbacks, but society only views those who have a nice resume well. I feel like dirt in his eyes.

If I am offered a job, should I take it?

I love teaching, but I do not like the government education ministry. I tried private tuition but I still prefer the classroom environment.

  1. I say go with your gut.

If the principal has that kind of effect over you now, just imagine what it can be like later on. I am sure there are more schools out there who would value your experience and your knowledge.

I have learned from my experience, and the experience of those around me, that taking a job that makes you feel uncomfortable will eventually lead to you quitting that job.

Follow your instinct. What really matters is that you are happy doing what you like to do.

    GOOD LUCK!!!

  2. I think it would be a really good time to look closely at exactly why you want to teach.  For those who are good at it, it's the best job in the world: for those not so good, it's the worst.

Why would you really want to put yourself through it?

Ask yourself, long and hard, these questions

    1) Why do you want to be a teacher?  Give yourself at least five good reasons.

    2) What would I do if became impossible for me to teach?

    3) What do others who know me and love me say about this decision?

  3. Yeah, the educational bureaucracy is a load of BS everywhere.  My wife, with a Masters degree in English and ten years teaching experience, left teachng because she could no longer stomach that.

I'd say if you get the offer, give it a shot.  Good luck!

  4. Teaching is the idea thing !! Please think serious every step u do and not for money or private thing !! ..

  5. teaching is a very good job ..thats the fied where u teach people watever u know..that job shuoldnt have any obstracles like wat u said..carry on with ur job..try finding institutions wether it it private or government and just prove ur talent with the studeunts and push all poeplewhoever discouraged u,to suprise!!!!!!!!all the best

  6. The admin is going to be tough on you because of your resume, but if they hire you they are willing to give you a chance. Don't let them down.

The important thing is develop strong relationships with your students and keep up on your admin paperwork.

Once you settle into the groove enjoy what you are doing as a contributor to these children's futures.

Don't sweat all the little c**p, it you can't let that go, don't go back into teaching.

    Good Luck,

    Ben

  7. I think you should give it a chance. It may be a good opportunity for you
