Should I apologize for calling that guy's niece ugly?

Everyone is entitled to their opinions. But still he crossed the line for threatening to have my entire family killed by neo n**i's. And also by saying that he is a racist and hates both black and white people. That's why I called her ugly. My husband said I should not have stooped down to his level and said that to him. My cousin on the other hand does not care one bit. She just laughed it off. But what do you think?

Is the niece a child?  I can understand how upset you are...but saying something like that about an innocent child who has nothing to do with the situation is pretty low.  

It sounds like everyone involved in this situation desperately needs to grow up.  Or call Jerry Springer, perhaps.

If you're an adult insulting a child, you should be ashamed of yourself. Pathetic.

If you have a bone to pick with this guy, settle it out with him. Even if you felt cornerned and insulted by this guy, bringing his niece into it was petty of you.

You said "HE" crossed the line, not "she". The niece is innocent in this situation. I would think a grown up would know this.

I can understand your frustration and anger, but you're not venting it in a good way. You're not even insulting him in a good way either. Instead of insulting him you insult his niece? I understand by insulting his family you insult him, but by calling his niece ugly you bring an unnecessary third party into this. For all you know she could be a very nice and considerate person.

So, if you're going to insult him, insult him.
