Question:

Should I ask a professional about why I have so many nightmares?

Okay, so I've been talking to my friends and they think it's weird that nightmares are so common for me.

I have at least two pretty vivid nightmares a week. But sometimes I have 3-4 vivid ones a week.

I must have more that I don't remember because sometimes when my good friend stays over after a late night she says I've been known to gasp loudly and sit straight up in bed like I'm terrified or something.

My most common nightmare is when I'm attempting to dial 911 but I either can't or I keep putting in the wrong numbers and I have to start over and over again.

So, has anyone else here talked to a professional about their nightmares? And have you/they had positive results?

  1. use to have lot of nightmares way long ago. more on summer than winter. make sure the bed is not too warm and no heavy blanket and don't put your hands close to your chest. nor tip down your head. sleep as spread out as possible. works for me and those who ask.

  2. Well... have you been through any tramatic experiences in your life. I have. And I have very bad nightmares. Not so much as I've gotten older. Things sit in your subconcious mind that you dont address head on then they come out in your sleep. Just because they coming as somethign terrifying doesnt mean something bad is around the corner maybe you just need to think about it outside of the box. I went to doctors over mine. 9 x's out of 10 they'll put you on some dope give you something to sleep and call it a day. A lot of times we as humans develop scnerios in our mind based off of a story someone told us or somethign we watched on TV...it gets in the back of our head and we dont realize it. I think you may be like myself, have a vivid imagination and analyze everything to the T. Not much you can do about it but pick and choose a little better what you watch on Tv ...the News doesnt help...not much to tell you. Unless you wanna be doped up for no reason I'd stay away from the doctors.
