Hi, I'm looking for an outside opinion about a little dilemma I have. This is actually pretty far in advance, but I need to decide sooner rather than later.
When I was in ninth grade, I was bullied in school and became very depressed. I ended up withdrawing for the last grading period of the year and took cyber school classes to finish. That summer, I went to a camp to rebuild my confidence-- I returned home a new person with a completely new outlook on life. I continued going to the same school that fall, and within the first month, the bullying had worsened. My parents and I made the final decision to leave the school for good. Because of financial circumstances, though, it was impossible for me to switch schools or move. My school said that the bullying was out of their control and that they could do nothing to help me, besides put me in cyber school again. It was my only choice, so I finished tenth grade in three months on the computer. After that, I was old enough to take dual enrollment classes at a local college. I loved it, and I am completing my high school graduation requirements that way.
My question for you is that, in 2010, when my class (which I attended with since kindergarten) graduates, should I walk across the stage to receive my diploma? How important was it for you, having that ceremony and tradition? My high school experience has been.. a little nontraditional to say the least, haha. But I am still considered part of that class, though I do not take classes at my actual high school. What do you think?
Thanks so much :) Kate
