My situation is really bugging me these days and I really need to crack down on what I should do. To start things off, I am 18 years old, I live in Vancouver BC, I have a girlfriend who lives in London Ontario, and we are extremely happy together :) . I told her that come this summer when I graduate and am finally not bound down by highschool, I am looking to apply into University of Western Ontario so I can keep education in mind and also be with her and not have to keep our relationship long distance. I would be staying with her family in their house in London for my first year, and then she would graduate highschool and we would both return to Vancouver together to finish all of our education here. My mother however wants me to finish my 1st year here since I would be more "comfortable" (even though I have been there already) and then after that, whatever happens happens. She also doesnt want me to stay with their family so going there isnt an option to her. I need helpppp :(

  1. If you really like her, then move to where she is and get a job then when she's done you can come back. It's great that her parents would let you stay at their house. She sounds like a keeper.

You are right that the long distance thing doesn't work. Be careful though. You two are young and one of you might feel the urge to date new people.

How do you know she wants to move to BC? I think you need to talk to her a bunch and make sure you can both compromise on where you guys are going to school. If you think you're okay with going to school in Ontario then you should explain that to your mom. You could transfer after a year. If you had to pay a higher tuition, then I'd just get a job for a year and save money until you can move back to Vancouver.

Maybe you can take a few core classes like math or English at a community college to save money and transfer to a university when you figure out which one you want to go to. If I were you and thinking about majoring in a science field, I'd move to Ontario, work 20-30h a week and take one or two math classes at a community college.
