Question:

Should I be a tennis ballboy?

I am 13 and my parents know a lot of people in the tennis world, and they can open many dorrs for me in the tennis world. I got an offer to be a ballboy for two ATP challengers at the Home Depot Center in Los Angeles, California. If I accept, I get two free tickets to a Bank of the West Classic match and an ATP UCLA match.

I'm not very excited to be a ballboy, but I think that it might be a good experience, and who knows, I could be a ballboy for Justine Henin!

If I become a ballboy, would it give me less time for tennis?

And, should I become a ballboy at all?

  1. TOTALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

it's a great chance darling, to meet new people and even more if you actually are interested in playing tennis later in your life.-

then let us know how it went, hehe.-

  2. yes

  3. dude YES. you can make a list of things for and against it any day. i envy you. i wish i had this opportunity before me when i was your age. this is one of those decisions that can't hurt to do. why wouldnt you? is the question.

  4. d**n straight you should. What a treat it would be getting to be that close up to some of the pro players. And you would no doubt get to see some pretty good tennis as well. Go for it if you have the opportunity.

You get to be 13 once and how many other people do you know who have been ball-kids at pro tennis tournaments? You will still have plenty of time for tennis - even if you just try it out for a tournament or two - not like it is going to be a career choice.

How cool would it be to say in 20 or 30 years time: "I was a ball boy when Roger Federer played (insert tournament here)...

  5. Yes, grab that chance kid. A lot of great players started as ball boys. After performing the task, ya can play on the courts among ya when available. You will meet people that can help improve your games & get to see some celebrities too. Good luck.

  6. You should be a ball boy.You wont regret it.

  7. no, if u dont want to. i heard that justin henin is a pr*ck.

  8. i would definitely do that for Anna Kournikova

  9. You get to see the stars up close and watch their strokes. Your game should improve tremendously.

Then you get to sprint after balls which is what tennis players do anyway so you are getting your tennis cardio workout.

Then being able to check out the crowd and wink at the cuties while the stars are on change over.

Sounds like a cush deal to me. Oh and you get paid - BONUS and the free tickets Cha-ching! and keep the shirt.

What do you mean take away from your time for tennis? You would have been watching matches anyway but now you get paid to watch em up close and personal.

You get to ask your favourite player if she has a twin sister your age that is single and would be open to meeting a single rich young American. After she finishes laughing she will say "You're cute" and either "No, but I wish I did" or "Yes as a matter of fact I do" how cool would that be.

I wish I was in your shoes young man I would have me some fun with this.
