I live in Dublin, Ireland. I am looking for a dining table & chairs. I found one I like in a store that is in an Englished owned store with a shop in Dublin. The price displayed in the shop is 699 sterling or 1050 euro. 699 sterling only converts to 885 euro (approx). Can I ask the shop to charge me on the credit card point in sterling. I know when I was shopping in Harrods London they offered to run my credit card transactions in euro.

It seems this shop is taken advantage as the euro has become stronger its has not changed its rates.

  1. You can ask them but they will either refuse or charge you extra.

If they charge in Sterling they will have to pay the exchange rate plus commission to get their money in Euros. They won't be happy with that will they?

  2. You can get 'foreign currency' (££) at the Airport .. then ask the shop for a discount for paying cash :-)
