I hit a carlton golf 400 cc driver and bullett irons. I would like to be able to afford all of the name brands, but I can't. However, I hit these clubs really well.

  1. If someone hits hand-me-downs well and they're not big-name brands, they should keep hitting them. If they played, let's say, Nikes and didn't like them, they should go back to the hand-mes.

  2. why would you be ashamed especially if you are out hitting the rich spoiled person who has the named brands. You shouldnt be ashamed you should actually be proud because you are a really good golfer, if you can hit clubs well and consisent

  3. you know what get a better paying job hahahah jm but if you hit the clubs good then stick with them thats what I do...........

  4. No way. I had Mizuno clubs two years ago and I wore them out. The next set I bought was a Tommy Armour Concept 2 set. These clubs were from 1987 and looked like they were forged yesterday at the time. I wish I could buy ten sets of these clubs. They were 75 cents a peice at a yard sale! No one said c**p when I plowed that three iron 200 dude and nor should they. The only thing you should worry about them saying is "Nice shot."

  5. Why should you be ashamed of your clubs? Do people intentionally look in your bag and say" Hey!! This dude uses a Carlton driver and Bullett irons!! Can you beat that ?"The mechanic is the factor in the use of any tool. If you hit the ball well, maintain a decent handicap for the number of times you play, any club or set of clubs is fine.

  6. It ain't about the bows and arrows.  As long as you can hit them it doesn't matter what brand is in the bag.

  7. Haha yes those clubs are tough to explain.  But theyre still not as bad as playing Knight clubs, Knight is the last name in golf, hahaha!?!?!?!

  8. It doesn't matter what kind of clubs you have.  Enjoy the game and use whatever works for you.

  9. it depends how good you are

  10. NO DUDE not at all !!! If you are passionate about it......not at all

  11. Never at all never,  Look at it this way.

You pull up the the first tee as a solo and join a threesome, they all have name brand this and name brand that, and they look at your clubs and snicker.

You get off the tee box out driving them by 50 yards and they might say lucky shot, but

when you shake their hands walking off the 18th green, just kicking the snot out of them by beating them by 10 strokes, who is going to be ashamed now?

I would rather win with a 99 cent driver and $1 putter than lose with 1K worth of equipment.

Hit what you have and hit them long, straight and true.

  12. I have way more respect for someone that can actually play well than have all the expensive equipment.  In fact it's one of my pet peeves when i see someone with $5000 clubs and a $1 swing.

  13. it's not the arrow, its the indian.

  14. no way. u shouldnt hav nething to b ashamed of. i for 1 is in ur boat. i hav pinseker irons which were cheap, a $40 56 degree wedge, a dynacast 5-wood that came with the irons and a titleist 8.5 degree driver and i hit all my clubs really well. im only 16 and alreddy bomb it past my playing partners. i think u should wait untill u get ur handicap down a bit b4 u get new clubs.

  15. I guess I would have to equate your situation with the difference between wearing Jordan's and Converse; neither one does anything for your game but you sure feel special when you got the Jordan's on.

The point is that companies spend a monumental amount of marketing money to make sure that you "feel" better when you have the Jordan's on. It's really as simple as that.

And believe when I say that being broke when you are young is the greatest blessing. It's the hunger to be or do something better that will direct you to do great things.

    Good Luck!!!

  16. The game you play is what counts.  If you play well, it doesn't matter what clubs you use.  Enjoy your game!

  17. Its not the clubs... its the player holding the clubs...

Remember that... tiger woods hits nikes.. and personaly i think those suck.. they are way to stiff for me....

Yet again, my drivers are ping, my irons are cleveland, so i dont have a bad set... but like i said... clubs are clubs, if you can hit well with them, great

  18. The clubs I used for years were the oldest and sorriest bunch of twigs ever put together.  They were such an off brand i cant even remember what the heck they were.  If I played at some fancy private club It might have mattered.  No one seems to notice at the municipal courses.  I don't think anyone cares what kind of clubs you use. .

  19. Ashamed? Never! If you hit them well, they serve their purpose, right?

There is one thing you should consider, though. Depending on how low-quality the clubs are, it's possible that your good swing could produce better results with higher-QUALITY clubs. Notice I didn't say more expensive clubs. There is, however, often a quality difference between "knock offs" and the real deal. Does this mean you should buy the most expensive clubs you can find? No.

But, you might consider finding a used set of name brand clubs that are similar to the ones you are playing now and get them. Used, they shouldn't cost that much, and you'll probably (though not definitely) find that the more expensive materials and higher level of workmanship will give you a little more distance, a little more control, a little better consistency.

Again, never be ashamed of your equipment. If it's all you can afford (or WANT to afford) who cares? But, consider that an upgrade might help your game and see whether that's important enough to you.

  20. No

  21. If you enjoy playing with what you have that is all that counts.

  22. Well, it depends what you are really asking.  If you are asking if you should be ashame using your current clubs and hitting it well, well of course not.  Use what ever will get you from the tee box to the green in the least amount of strokes.

Now if you are asking if you should be ashame you got "unknown" brand name clubs b/c your friends have it, my answer is it all depends.  If you belong to a ritz type of a country club where millionaires hang out, I would say yes.  But if you hang out with people who plays for fun in a nine hole par 3 public course, who cares.  You be laughing as you are the green in regulation while they are in the woods or sand somewhere.  Its like, if i have a honda civic driving to work at a factory, then its ok.  You driving a honda civic to an investment firm where your clients and coworkers drive nothing but Ferraris, then different story.  You might have to think about the Civic.

All in, stick with the clubs you have b/c they are working for you.  Only change if it is for game improvement.  You will enjoy the game more.

  23. Nah, you shouldn't be ashamed of your clubs, it's your game and how well you play that should speak for you.
