On 5/24/08, my husband and I purchased a Frigidaire Side-by-Side Stainless Steel refrigerator. Our old fridge was also a stainless steel side-by-side but the door was making a loud noise (part creaking / part scraping) when opened and it had begun to leak. The noise was only on the refrigerator side. The technician who came out said that the weight of the door had caused the bottom panel to cave in so the door was misaligned and not sealing properly. This allowed moisture to develop and that resulted in the leaks. So, we purchased a new one. 2 months in, we are hearing a creaking noise as the door opens and now we're noticing that both doors seem to rise and fall as they are opened. Should we be concerned? Of course we declined to purchase Sears' $300 coverage plan, now we're regretting it.

  1. You should still have a manufacturer's warranty.  Check the manual that came with the fridge to see how defects, repairs and service are handled.  There should be a toll free number to call.  Seeing as how the fridge is only a few months old, you should be covered.  Yes, I would definitely not let this one go based on your past experience.

  2. The doors ride on cam risers at the bottom, they are plastic and have high and low spots to close the doors sometimes they loosen up and make noise or just break off. Regetting what the new ref or the coverage plan. The doors are doing what they are made to look at the bottom of the door you will see the black plastic cam risers.
