Should I be friends with him?

There's a boy at my school that people don't talk to because they think he's unattractive (which is a totally STUPID reason, but I've heard people say things like that). I got to talking to him on Friday and I learned that he's an incredibly sweet boy and he's very smart; he's in all honors classes. While we were talking he seemed very happy. But at lunch later that day I saw him crying...

What should I do? Should I be friends with him?

That really depends. Why do you want to be his friend?

If it's out of pity, I think you should forget it. I don't think anybody wants a friend just because they feel sorry for you. But if you truly want to be his friend, then of course. :) At least be friendly to him, and talk to him once in a while. Maybe even sit down at his table.
