Should I be handicapping wet for the derby?

  1. The track is covered and draining water successfully. It should be a fast track by the time the actual Derby race is ran later in the day. Bet as usual. 18 or the 20 have been rain tested and are good to go.

  2. I don't think so. Churchill dries well, and there is only a 30% chance of rain saturday - clearing later in the afternoon.

Probably not, unless it's raining there now or rains early this afternoon.  If you remember last year, the Oaks was run on Friday on a muddy track and the races early on the card on saturday were wet and muddy, but as racing went on, the sun dried out the track and it was upgraded to good and then by the time of the Derby, it was rated a fast track.  I'm guessing the track will be fast unless it rains some more today.  Handicap for a fast track, but have an alternate plan for later developments.

  4. I agree, Churchill does dry very well and they expect the rain to end early in the morning.  I wouldn't expect a sloppy track.
