Should I be lifting divots when I hit with my irons?

  1. Yes you should be taking divots when you hit your irons. Make sure that the divot is infront of where the ball was on the ground. Taking a divot infront of the ball shows that you were hitting down on the ball like your supose to be doing when playing an iron shot.


  2. yes.  divots in front of where the ball was, not behind.  Divits should be straight and shallow.  Deep divots, divots behind the ball, or divits running outwards (left or right of the target) indicate poor swings.  

    Tiger Woods recently said in a Golf Digest issue that he takes a divot with every iron shot, even off a tee.  Now, to me, off a tee seems strange, BUT he IS Tiger.  He shoots a whole round what I wish I could hit on the front 9.
