Question:

Should I be mad/annoyed with my family for acting different around me since I make more money than them?

My husband and I are upper-middle class and my immediate family is lower-middle (financially speaking). We don't talk about our money, show off, ect. We have even helped out a family member with money. I just feel like there is weirdness between us all now, and I don't like it. I wish money wasn't an issue, but of course it always is. I don't tell anyone, but it irritates me the way they act sometimes. What to do?

  1. Try to be normal...

Be the person you always were and will be.

Sorry :( Thats the best I can do.

  2. Are you sure it is about money? Maybe they feel uncomfortable around your husband or perhaps you have grown in ways that they

haven't. Did you get a college degree and they didn't? Do you come

to their house all dressed up and made up and they don't dress like

    that?

When you feel that annoyance from them, ask what is wrong. They might tell you or they might not. Families are strange. But it is worth a try.

It could actually be many things and you and your husband just don't realize it. It's possible you have nothing in common with your family anymore. It happens to lots of us.

  3. Well i have the same issue i make over 200k a year with one job and 500k on the other job. But when i go see my family they always have something snide to say like is that a new car, usually i buy used cars, and ill say no its a used car and they say ya with your money you can wast it like that. I bought my brother who turned 16 a convertible because that's what he really wanted i didn't take credit for it i dropped it off in the morning and placed a note on the door and said it was from his parents. But usually i know its annoying but you just have to come ot face it that when it comes down to it we make more money and they feel like we walk around with a chip on our shoulder when really we like having the money but don't rub it in. Its sad but true what i can suggest is take every thing with a grain of sugar and try not to let them bother you at all with it. If there jealous about the money then they could get work to make more. Just ignore most of it darlin and it will always be an issue for some other its not a big deal as long as they are happy.
