Question:

Should I be nervous?

So after high school me and my 3 best friends went our separate ways, thrown across the country to various colleges and unltimately forgotten in our now different and busy lives.

That was 5 years ago.

Recently one of them has gotten in touch with me and turns out shes moved to NYC, not very far from where I live out on the Island.

And today, shes making the trip out on the train to see me.

I know I have changed a lot from high school and I can only assume she has also so Im really nervous to see her. I know its normal to talk about whats been going on in the past few years but I don't want it to be akward. (I get terrible anxiety when Im nervous)

Anyone have any tips on how to calm myself down? Suggestions on what to talk about?

  1. 5 years is a hella long time-im sure once shes there the words will just flow naturally

maybe compliment her on her looks or something & get her relaxed too-she might be just as nervouse =)

also you can always reminace about the good ol times =)

  2. Yes, you've both changed.  But somewhere inside you is the girl you used to be, and you never really lose that.  So part of you is still the girl she was friends with, and vice versa.

It if gets awkward, just admit it.  The best way to defeat an awkward moment is to recognize it for what it is, and laught it off.  It's okay to get nervous - pretend it's like a bird that lands on your hand.  You look at it, and then it flies away, and you move on.

  3. Don't be too nervous your friend will be the same as you

a bit .Get some old photo or memorabilia ready to look at and break the ice you will soon be chatting away
