My mother and I were dicussing the candidates for President this weekend. The subject of abortion came up and I expressed that I believe in a woman's right to choose, although I am not pro abortion. She told me that if she believed in abortion I wouldn't be alive. I can't get it out of my head. How do I handle this. We're not very close, but still she is my mother.

  1. That was a very cruel thing to say. She is basically telling you that she never wanted you. I would say goodbye to her because she obviously doesn't want you.

  2. you should not be offended we are all entitled to our opinions

  3. I think that's just something you're going to have to deal with. You might tell her that it hurt your feelings, but if she was being honest there's not much you can do about that.

I know it sounds silly, but don't take it personally. She didn't know *you*. Your personality, what you look like, the things you're interested in. So it wasn't like she was able to look at you as you are now and wish she could blink you out of existence. I know my mother considered aborting me, and I don't hold it against her. If I had been in her situation, I probably would have.

  4. dont listen to that idiot with the first answer, your mom loves you and all she was trying to say is that she wasnt ready for a baby at the time but she loves you with all her soul
