Question:

Should I be panicking about college admissions?

I (a rising senior) just found out about my AP test results for biology and European history, and I got threes on both, which was a huge blow to me. I was really disappointed and surprised. I started doing some research online, and read several places that AP test results are starting to weigh more and more heavily on applications!

I also just found out recently about my SAT II results, which I thought were also less than stellar (680 US History, 690 bio, 770 lit). Are these the little factors that will keep me out of a top school? My list of favorites includes Carleton, Pomona, Stanford, and UChicago.

Other stats:

SAT: 2260

GPA: 3.969

Extracurriculars: editor on high school paper, piano (awards), chorale, NHS, regular volunteering at the library, regular job, internship at a local paper, president of History Day club, counselor at a Spanish camp for kids

  1. Your SAT score is pretty good, and your GPA is amazing! You have many extracurriculars, and some good ones are the editor of the paper, counselor at the Spanish camp, and NHS is important. Volunteer is also good. Your SAT II scores are high, but as you said, not stellar. I still think you'll get into a pretty good college, not sure which one though.

  2. honestly, stanford is a stretch. they don't seem to accept ANYONE

however, you have a good chance with a few other of those schools.

i'm guessing you're aiming to go into some sort of publications?

but your SAT reasoning score looks great!

    good luck!
