Should I be using a relay when running two amps?

I will be running 2 of these amps http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/Item/Main.aspx?g=300&i=500CDA9884&search=Alpine+VENDORID500&searchdisplay=Alpine&tp=5684 should I be using a relay? and if so what kind of relay would you recommend and how would I wire it? Thanks!

  1. With only two amps, a relay shouldn't be necessary.  As a rule of thumb, you should use a relay when you have three or more components connected to the deck's remote output.  When it's needed, use a standard automotive relay, and wire it as follows:

    85-- Ground

    86-- Remote wire from deck

    87-- fused (+) 12VDC

    87a- not used

    30--  output to amp remote terminals

  3. Look at this site under relays,you want to wire it like the one stated"Connecting Additional Devices to the Remote Turn On Wire" I have 2 amps with 2 cooling fans hooked up like this already,with no problems at all.This will be a nice setup once complete..Let us know how it sounds,would you?

  4. You dont need a relay unless your going to have more than one battery
