if it was a girl looking at a boy athlete, i would say she was just interested in him as an athlete. I know guys though...he is in to her. It wont go anywhere other than looking on the internet probably, but it is an indication into what he likes. ask him. maybe he will want you to dress up like a gymnast and give him a routine...if you know what i mean.
