Question:

Should I be worried about moisture between concrete slab and linoleum?

I decided to rip up our linoleum floor. I found several layers of linoleum before getting to the concrete slab. Now we live in Texas and it is currently 101-105 everyday....I was shocked to find moisture/dampness between the bottom layer of vinyl and the slab. We do have some cracks in the slab. Should I be worried about a leak? Our house is about 20 years old.

Thanks for you wisdom!

  1. Is this in a dank basement? If so, you may want to consider a dehumidifier. Moisture will lead to mold and mildew.

Humidity = moisture. Though I would think Texas would be a dry heat.

I have seen cracks in slab never amount to much. Hard to say for sure but you can always try to apply a sealer prior to reinstalling new tile.
