Question:

Should I be worried about my dog's dry nose?

One of our dogs always has a dry nose. Her eating and sleeping habits are the same. Her personality is also the same. I have heard that a dog could be sick if their nose is dry. But she doesn't act sick.

  1. no shes/hes not sick thats a myth..

    maybe dehydrated though

    make sure its got water

  2. diagnosing a dog as sick by a dry nose is an ol wives tail.

  3. No nothing to worry about. It's normal for dogs to have a dry nose.

  4. the nose thing (in my experince) is c**p. Basically some dogs have cold wet noses, but that's because they play a lot their nose runs, they are in a cool environment and BAM they havae a cold and wet nose. Some dogs even though they can be playful just don't generate that much mucus and it takes them longer to cool down. So then you get....warm dry nose. If she's acting fine, eating fine etc. she's fine. Don't diagnose her by the nose.

  5. If everything else is normal then the dry nose is normal.  I wouldn't worry about it.  You cannot diagnose illness by a dry warm nose.  That's another wives's tale that lives on.

  6. If anything, it could mean that something's been bugging her nose. Dryness of the season or something like that. This happens to my dog a lot, and she has allergy problems. But, if your dog isn't acting funny in any other way, I'd just ignore it. Probably nothing, anyway.

If you're really concerned though, call your veterinarian, and if they recommend it, take her in for an exam. :]

  7. That is simply not true that if a dog has a dry nose they are sick. If your dog is doing all the same things it always does. If it has a healthy diet, gets exercise and likes to play and her coat is in good shape. Then she is fine, don't worry about it.
