He begs to be fed but when I put down the wet food he either ignores it or humors me with a few bites. Natural Balance was his favorite. Now what?

  1. You could try mixing the old food with the new food to get your kitty used to it.

  2. I'm not sure I'm following.  Is canned NB the food he's been eating in the past, and suddenly he no longer wants it?  And it's the same flavor?

Or is this a new food?

If the latter, cats can be picky about trying new foods.  I have some suggestions that might help.

If the former, it could be a bad can (rather unlikely but not impossible) or he might not feel well or he might just want something else.  I would try a different can to rule out problems with one.  I'd also offer something else to eat so that you'll know whether his appetite is off or if he's just not in the mood for his regular food.

  3. Cats can be just as picky as children. Try switching brands and see what happens. Are you also trying dry foods?

My cat doesn't like wet cat food at all, even from the start, but she'll eat salmon and tuna from the can.

  4. give it about a week or two then just try something else.... some cats are just stubborn

  5. Just leave it there.

If he gets that hungry, he will eat it in no time.

Or you can try mixing old and new food,  switching foods right away isn't very good anyways.

  6. My cat is very picky with wet food.  One day he likes something then next he doesn't.  So, now he rarely gets it.

Are you feeding him dry food too?   Is he eating the dry food?

As long as he eat the nibbles, he's fine.  And if he not eating the nibbles...well, he will when he's hungry enough!

Wet food should be given as a treat anyway--especially if he's obviously picky!

I suggest once a week or two you give him some human grade canned tuna--no salt added!!

  7. I usually feed both of my kittens the same food at the same time.  One day I tried a new kind of wet food.  The one kitten loved it, the other one turned her nose up at it.  However, the minute I put down something different for her she ate immediately.  I believe it's all in the personal taste of the cat.  As I explained to my husband cats are like people- we wouldn't want to eat something we just didn't like the smell or taste of.  Good Luck!

  8. try some tin brands.felix, whiskers, classic,go cat..they are like us we like a change of food not the same stuff day in day out..mine even eat prawns, salmon, pilchards and pate.

they say variety is the spice of life..or a change of food is a happy contented cat..

and if no change and he still won't eat it then i say its  more serious and needs a vet.
