I was searching a gold buying website for the PC game World of Warcraft and I decided to try and buy some. Apparently this site was legit according to other websites and so I assumed it would be fine.

I bought the cheapest amount with a credit card I bought at a grocery store only meant for online use with the amount of $25.00 on it. Everything went fine and I received the gold online in a few hours.

I thought that I could try buying more and so I bought $100.00 worth of gold using my own American Express card. When I went to pay for it on the paypal website and I confirmed the purchase, everything was fine.

A few hours later I received a phone call from a 000012345 phone number and they asked me several questions to "confirm" this purchase. They started by asking the first 6 digits of my credit card along with my birth date, full name and email. Like a ditz I gave them the information with no questions asked.

I now wonder if this was a mistake and I thought about it and if they have the last 4 digits all that's left is 5 digits and they could just generate codes or something. I'm wondering if my credit card is safe or if I should cancel any purchases being used with it.

Paypal is a legit site and I was wondering if there was even a way for that website to access the last 4 digits of my credit card.

Could someone please tell me if it is safe or not?

Thank you.

P.S. The website is http://www.mymmoshop.com/

  1. live in peace with 6 digit and date of birth it is difficult to pull out any info.

  2. Call that credit card IMMEDIATELY and tell them your number has been stolen.  I work with ID Theft protection; the last 4 numbers of your card are very easy to obtain, and just 10 guesses will reveal the fifth.

Edit:  NEVER NEVER NEVER give account numbers over the phone!  (not even to a bank or credit card company).

  3. no your ok...the first 4 just tell card info (visa-etc)  there is nothing they can do with 6 nos....the most common scam is to call and tell someone you are the bank etc.....give them the first 4(which are standered}  and ask for the rest....your ok
