Question:

Should I book the Isle of Man Weekend for TT?

I wasn't sure which section to put this in, then I thought TT = Motorbikes!

I'm trying to book a short weekend stay on the isle of man as a suprise for my hubby. As he is heavily addited to motorbikes, and has never been to the isle of man or the TT, I wanted to take him there.

I however, have a slight dilema. We can only go end of May bank holiday weekend 24-26 (due to childcare and work holidays allowed) and this is the start of the practices. So, leaving on Monday we will not actually see any racing, just maybe practice laps on saturday evening. I have heard that there is a Classic bike racing going on south of the island on a shorter track, but I haven't been able to find out if this is confirmed yet. So the short of it is :-

1. If it were you, would you want to go?

2. Would it bother you, not staying for the TT?

3. Does anyone know if the Classic race is confirmed?

4. It's costing us about £350 for both + spending, would this be a waste?

I would appreciate any idea's?

  1. You sound like my kinda girl !! Booking a TT trip for him !!! .......................... however.

    1) Yes, he will love it

    2) No, he will still love it, buy him the Duke DVD when it come out!

    3) Not sure.

    4) not a waste at all................

.............. but have you got your hotel / B&B booked ?? These places are like rocking horse shite at that time of year.

If you have, then do it ! Your fella will love every minute of it, if he does not, then take me next year !!! HaHa !!!

  2. Go for it hon, if you can get 3 days without the kids - drinkin' beer and watching bikes and getting in late at night - you should both love it!

Well played you for thinking of it!

  3. Definitely not a waste. the practise sessions are similar to the racing. the road is closed. the atmosphere is the same. I'm surprised you can book anywhere this late. everywhere is usually booked the year before. or at least 6 months before. but if you were my wife. treating me to the IOM TT. id definitely be PLEASED. even if it was just practice. when you've seen practice and the racing. you will understand.  my advice - go for it. and have a great time.
