Question:

Should I bring a gift to a farewell party?

I'm going to a farewell party that is being thrown by the same couple that is moving from one end of the Country to the other end. The wife played on my USTA (Tennis) team for 2 years, but I wasn't friends with her outside of tennis (although I've known her for many years). I don't know her husband though. It's a "bring a side dish or dessert" and BYOB invitation. Do I need to bring a gift for the moving out of state couple if I am bringing wine and dessert?

  1. A Good Luck card would be nice. You don't really have to do more than that, but at least a card.

If you want to give them a gift, something little to remind them of the place they are leaving would be nice. IE: A mug with the name of the city on it, some postcards or something of that sort.

  2. I would buy her a small gift for her new house, that would be a nice thing to do.

  3. wink suggestively at the wife all night, then give a large d***o as a gift. If they object or cause a scene, that's when you say its to compensate for the husbands micro-p***s.

  4. when we moved across the country, we were given gift cards to various restaurants. Since we had to pack up the kitchen a few days before and eat out on the way, it was very helpful.
