If so, how much?

I'm going for 10 days with my employers. Most of my expenses will be paid for, but I'm sure I will need some money of my own. Should I bring, say US$500 in cash, to exchange for Euros? Or should I try to use credit cards most of the time and only bring a little cash?

  1. If you are asking this because of the risk of say pickpockets or whatever, Germany is no different than the rest of the world.  If you keep your money in the right place on your body, it is safe in any country.

If you are asking this because of having to exchange that much cash in case you don't spend it, I would say load up your credit card before you come over and take out what you need in say $200-300 lots.  Your fee from your own bank for taking this out is still cheaper than exchanging for Euros at a bank or whatever.

Depending on which city in Germany you are going to, some you would need more cash than others.  Depending on whether you love to drink beer or not will also reflect how much money you need.  It is very tempting to drink their wonderful beers, and there are plenty of beer gardens to visit.

    Either way, just have fun.

  2. If you do bring money, Exchange them to euros in america!!! Many people in Europe rip people off  when exchanging money, because many do not know the value. Have fun in Germany, friend.

  3. I would bring Hawaiian money.  The value is closer to a Euro than the dollar.

    And quit slapping people Sally!

  4. um Snizz my BBF do you mind not hitting the merchandise I like what i see and i don't want any damages...

    use American Express, your priceless

  5. Exchange US for Euro before you leave.  Always handy to some cash ready for cabs, tips... coffeee.

Credit cards are safe and so are travelers cheques. these can be replaced if lost or stolen.

    Have fun!!

  6. LOL good luck on using your credit card!!!

    *slap*

    *shakes head*

    Nancy look here *slap*

and I gave you a serious answer . there's a lot of places that don't take credit cards, but I guess you didn't get that!!!

    I'm currently regretting unblocking you!!

  7. $500 dollars should be more than enough I would say. I stayed a week in Munich on 200 Euro, and I had to buy all my meals as well.

  8. you should always carry some cash (us) and change to euros when you get there but $500 is too much. especially since your expenses will be paid for, It's better to use a credit cards the exchange rate is pretty good with credit cards. if you change allot of money you will end up stuck with it.

you should bring the $500 dollars cash, but only change 200$ and use credit cards for everything.

  9. Probably safer with cards, but check first to see if there might be any bank charges while you're abroad. Just take a little cash as it's sometimes easier and quicker.
