I'm going to the Iowa Indy 250 on Sunday. Have never been to an Indycar race before and have no idea how loud they are. I will be in the 9th row. Should I bring ear plugs?

  1. Definitely! You Do Not Want Damage To Your Ear Drums From The Extremely Loud Roaring Engines

  2. you cant go wrong by bringing (or wearing) them. if you don't bring them, they should have them at the race track.

you can also rent a scanner. that will protect your ears and you and your kids can listen to the drivers curse.

  3. If you wanna go deaf, no.

  4. I normally go with an over the head ear muffs so that I can ear buds for the radio inside them.

  5. The Indycar races aren't as loud as a NASCAR race but the engines rev at higher RPM's and i think that messes with the ears more than the loudness. Its just a higher engine note that hurts my ears more, so yes bring earplugs.

  6. Your hearing is not something to fool around with....EVER!

Always bring two pairs with you....You can still hear plenty with them on and you won't miss a thing.

  7. Yes.  Clothing is optional in Iowa too.

  8. I've been to six IRL races in the past two years and have yet to need them.  Of course, I live for those sounds and wouldn't want to miss a second of them 8^)

Many do take care by using earplugs, and I can see their point.  You shouldn't have to bring any with you, though; different sponsors have handed them out freely at the entrance gates of every IRL venue I've been to thus far.

  9. Indycar races aren't quite as loud as Nascar races but it can still start to hurt your ears especially if there is a long stretch of green flag racing.  I usually bring them and wear them for a while in the middle part of the race.

  10. i would definitely not wear them. the whole point of going is to take in the experience and that includes the invigorating sound of the roaring engines. youll be fine without them. why go if youre trying to block out the sound, ya no?

  11. Better to have them and not need them than to need them and not have them.

  12. You could damage your hearing by not wearing earplugs, but when I went to the Indy 500 this year, I was probably wearing earplugs for about half of the race, and my hearing is fine.  I guess it's your choice, but I will warn you that it is VERY loud, so may want them.

  13. Bring butt-plugs!! The noise will make you **** yourself!!
