I have a 1 year old parakeet and I didn't know if I should leave him at home were he may be more comfortable or take him up north with me, I will be gone six days and he would have the same cage he has a home. If I dont bring him with me my brother would watch him but most likely not play with him much!! I want to do what ever is easiest on him!

Thanks!!

  1. If you leave them at home ask your brother to clean the  cage that's the important thing birds do not like a dirty cage they get sick... if you decide to take him up north be very careful he does not get in a draft  he can get sick.. he will be fine at home,  as long as you can trust that your brother will cover him at dark and lift the cover in the morning

  2. Birds really don't travel very well. Leave it at home.

  3. how long will you be gone i would think take him as long as theres not dramatic changes

  4. Leave him. He will be fine.

  5. bring him its a lot of fun with a bird

  6. well alot of birds dont like cold weather

  7. Leave him...Unless you want him to suffer all the way north.

  8. Parakeets do well for that length of time...so long as there is fresh water & food available...Leave the lil one...it will be far less stressful for you as well as the feathered one...Simply make sure that your bro remembers to cover & uncover the lil guy as well as insure there is always fresh water & food available...cleaning the cage at least once[twice is better] during your abscence is a great plus!

  9. It depends on how well you trust your brother to take care of him. If he's a single-kept bird he will probably miss you a lot and this could stress him out. It will most likely be better to keep him out your house where he's familiar, however make sure your brother knows what food to give him, how much. Tell him to avoid using teflon or aerosols aroung him. If I were you I would make or buy him a few toys or treat sticks to put in the cage while you're away. And check back by calling your brother every night to see how your 'keet is doing
