Question:

Should I bring my own snorkel gear to Negril?

Hello/Hola

Is it better to bring my own snorkel gear? Or just rent one?

I know there are people that do that for a leaving, but I was wondering how easey it would be for me to just do this by myself? Would I still need someone to take out to sea? Or is there plenty of places I can go on my own? I would go scuba, but I could bearly afford this trip in the first place.

Please advice,

Yesi.

  1. YESI....ha ha what happened, did your other question get removed?  I didn't report you..  it was that silly "undercover - mom".

YES, take your own snorkel gear.  If you already have a nice mask that fits you well, take it.  Rental gear is often cheap and "one size doesn't fit all" kind of stuff.  Why pay several dollars a day for rental if you don't have to?

TAKE FLIPPERS for your feet too, you may have to swim down 15 feet to get a good look at some things in the rocks.

If you go out to sea...the water is often 40-50  feet deep and you can't snorkel.  Make sure the boat is taking you to 15- 20 feet depth for snorkeling.

DONT feed the fish bread or hot dogs like I did....in one minute you have 200 fish around you, and when the bread is gone, they start nipping your fingers and legs...ouch.  Then you have to swim like mad to lose them.

  2. We always do. 1) I do not want to share my mouth peice that someone else spit and chewed on.

    2) for 25 dollars at walmart I could get a much better set that doesn't fog up.

    3) Usually is about 15-20 to rent a set... ummm, robbery!

  3. Yes take your own ! Negril is so fun !
